President Donald Trump is set to attend a memorial for conservative activist Charlie Kirk in Glendale, Arizona on Sept. 21.
The event is organized by Turning Point USA, the conservative activism organization Kirk co-founded, at State Farm Stadium outside of Phoenix. The memorial is scheduled to have speeches from the president, high ranking Trump administration officials and other conservative figures.
Kirk was assassinated during a Turning Point USA event on the campus of Utah Valley University in Orem on Sept. 10.
Kirk was a close political ally of Trump and the latter became a fixture and a keynote speaker at many Turning Point Action events.
At a Turning Point political rally in December 2024, a month after winning the presidential election, Trump credited Kirk and Turning Point with his victory.
"I want to express my tremendous gratitude to Charlie Kirk. He's really an amazing guy, amazing guy and his whole staff for their relentless efforts to achieve this very historic victory," Trump said.
The memorial comes after more than a week of tributes and fallout, including dozens who were fired or suspended over comments they made about the conservative personality. In the highest-profile action yet, ABC suspended "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" after Brendan Carr, Trump's chairman of the Federal Communications Commission, made apparent threats against network affiliates over Kimmel's comments about Tyler Robinson, the man charged in Kirk's death.
