Nine-year-old Nathan Abeyta glanced lovingly at a soft white dove before releasing the bird toward the heavens above Roselawn Cemetery on Sept. 18.
The day marked five years since Nathan's baby brother, 15-month-old Aiden Seeley, was killed. Friends and family gathered at the cemetery's Lakeside Memory Pathway to honor the late toddler while making balloon animals, reading scripture, releasing doves and riding horses.
Seeley died at the hands of Ramondo Jones — then the boyfriend of Seeley's foster mother, Dacey Spinuzzi. Jones was found guilty of first-degree murder and sentenced to life in prison without parole in 2023. Spinuzzi was charged as an accessory and is serving a 12-year sentence.
