On Saturday, tour-guided nature walks, kid-oriented programs on aquatic animals and owls, and a program on West Virginia birds of prey using live owls, falcons, hawks and a bald eagle will be featured during a Fun Family Fall event at Kanawha State Forest.

All events will start from KSF's Nature Center at the former swimming pool area.

The themed nature walks all begin at 10 a.m. and will include:

Identifying medicinal and edible plants

Trees, wildflowers and birds

Spotted salamander hike

CCC Snipe Trail hike

At 11:30 a.m. in front of the Nature Center there will be kids' events involving netting and identifying crayfish, fish and aquatic insects in nearby Davis Creek, and dissecting owl pellets to identify what the nocturnal birds have been eating.
