Artificial Intelligence took center stage in Washington this week, as Southwest Missouri Congressman Eric Burlison shared his views on the rapidly evolving technology—one he calls a personal favorite.

“I’m going to begin by quoting Irving John Goode, who was a British mathematician,” said Burlison. “He is quoted as saying, ‘Let an ultra-intelligent machine be defined as a machine that can far surpass all the intellectual activities of any man, however clever. Thus, the first ultra intelligent machine is the last invention that man may ever need to make.’”

Burlison pushed back on fears about job loss, saying AI’s evolution doesn’t mean work will disappear.
