Andy Burnham has urged union bosses to return to the negotiating table and halt the bus strikes.
More than 2,000 members of the Unite began a four-day walk-out this morning in a row over pay . The action has caused widespread disruption for passengers with around two-thirds of services across Greater Manchester cancelled.

But in a statement, the Mayor insisted 'everything possible and reasonable has been done to try to avert these strikes' and urged union bosses to 'work with us'.
