Only 12 hunters applied for the 12 tags that were available for this fall’s archery deer hunt in East Grand Forks city limits, and as a result, they all may draw tags.

By comparison, 40 people applied for the 10 permits that were available for last year’s inaugural East Grand Forks archery hunt. Those 40 applicants were narrowed down to 15 through a lottery, and the city then conducted a proficiency test to select the 10 tag recipients.

The East Grand Forks Parks and Recreation Department coordinates the city archery hunt. This year’s hunt is set for Nov. 15-23, and nine antlerless and three either-sex permits were available.
