ELBA, Ala. (WDHN) - According to Mississippi Delta Community College's Facebook, Elba native and MDCC football player, Emanuell Cooks, passed away after a recent football game.

MDCC said Cooks passed away from medical complications, after their football game against Hinds Community College on September 18th.

MDCC's president, Dr. Steven Jones said "Our entire Trojan family is devastated by this loss. At this time, our deepest thoughts and prayers are with Emanuell's family, teammates, coaches, and friends. We will come together as a community to support one another through this tragedy."

MDCC said they're offering counseling and support services to students, faculty and staff.

MDCC is asking everyone to respect the privacy of Cooks' family and the campus community.
