Brenda Biya, daughter of Cameroon’s longtime president Paul Biya, has shocked the nation after publicly urging citizens not to vote for her 92-year-old father in the upcoming October elections.

According to DW News, Brenda took to TikTok with a bold message criticizing her father’s 43-year rule, accusing his administration of keeping millions of Cameroonians trapped in poverty.

This marks the first time in Africa that the child of a sitting head of state has openly denounced their parent’s leadership and called for their removal at the ballot box.

Paul Biya, who has ruled Cameroon since 1982, remains one of the world’s longest-serving leaders. His daughter’s remarks have added a new layer of controversy to an already tense election season.
