The town of Irmo has once again grabbed the attention of the South Carolina High School League football world.

A year after Dutch Fork and Irmo reached the Class 5A Division I and II finals, the two rivals are continuing their run of success. This week, the Silver Foxes and Yellow Jackets hold the top two spots in the S.C. Prep Football Media Class 5A rankings.

Dutch Fork extended its SCHSL-leading active winning streak to 24 games following a 42-14 win at Gray Collegiate. Over at W.C. Hawkins Stadium, Irmo improved to 4-0 following a 51-21 rout of previously-undefeated Carolina Forest.

Both teams will close out non-region play this Friday and have a bye the following week. The Silver Foxes travel to Mount Pleasant to face another charter school in defending Class 3A champion
