AUSTIN (KXAN) — After sustaining major damage in the flooding the weekend of July 5, 2025, the Big Sandy Creek Bridge at Big Sandy Dr and Round Mountain Road is fully repaired and back open.

Immediately after the flooding, residents in the Sandy Creek neighborhood were temporarily without access to and from their homes, many of which sustained significant damage in the flood.

A temporary low-water crossing was established while the bridge was being repaired.

The bridge was not washed away, but shifted over several inches. Upon inspection, it was determined that the new location of the bridge that was moved by flood waters was stable enough to reconstruct the entrance ramp to and from the bridge, which reopened to traffic on Thursday.
