Federal officials say they didn't have to provide a warrant when they temporarily detained an Arizona State University staffer after an anonymous tip about a threat directed at President Donald Trump.

“The subject was lawfully detained for investigative purposes; no warrant was required," Acting Special Agent in Charge Ray Rede with Homeland Security Investigations said in a statement to The Arizona Republic.
