Arizona Public Media, which serves southern Arizona, is laying off nearly 7% of its staff after federal funding cuts slashed a portion of its budget.
In total, six people will lose their jobs. Another 11 open positions won’t be filled. Staffing reductions are part of the fallout from $1.1 billion in cuts approved by Congress this summer at President Donald Trump’s direction. Station leaders said that funding made up 12 to 15% of its annual budget.
