Flooding and mudslides carrying trees and rocks buried roads, damaged homes and trapped drivers in several southern California communities, authorities said.
A major mudslide in Oak Glen prompted several road closures, trapped cars and downed power lines Thursday afternoon.
Aerials showed the massive mudslide had come down a hillside, sweeping through a neighborhood and damaging homes.
The mudslides affected Forest Falls, Oak Glen and Potato Canyon in San Bernardino County, the county's fire protection district said in a statement.
Cal Fire urged people in those communities to stay out of the area or shelter in place after the surge of mud and debris covered roadways and compromised power lines.
