Plans have been submitted to convert a three-storey Victorian building in Willenhall town centre into a House of Multiple Occupation.

If approved by Walsall Council, 116-118 Lower Lichfield Street, formerly home to Roy Birch’s DIY and hardware shop, could become a 13-bedroom HMO.

The DIY shop closed in 2023 when Roy Birch retired in his early 90s after more than 50 decades of service in the town.

Last year the large property was put on the market, inviting offers in the region of £300,000.

The latest plans submitted by Shereen Enterprise Ltd propose creating six single ensuite bedrooms on both the first and second floor.
