The largest law firm in Massachusetts, Ropes & Gray, just lost 21 attorneys to another Big Law business headquartered in Los Angeles.

Sheppard Mullin Richter & Hampton said Thursday it hired away intellectual property lawyer Steven Pepe — formerly IP chair at Ropes — plus four other partners and 16 special counsel members and associates.
