CHARLOTTE (QUEEN CITY NEWS) -- Attention frequent flyers! You know they can be your best defense against boredom in flight. Those trusty traditional seatback screens where you access your favorite shows and movies at thirty thousand feet.

But are those built-in screens better than watching on your phone? One airline is not just hoping you'll say no...it's banking on it.

Chief transportation correspondent and pilot Maycay Beeler tells us why personal devices are edging out conventional seatback entertainment.

It's not happening on every airline or every type of aircraft. But it is on certain American Airlines legacy planes like the Airbus A319. In fact, the airline reports that 30 of the aircraft, used for short- to medium-haul flights, are being retrofitted to remove the seatback screen
