“I just pray that our country will think hard and long about what happened last week, and I would pray that cooler heads will prevail,” Morristown City Councilmember Al A’Hearn said at Tuesday’s Council meeting.

A’Hearn was referencing the assassination of conservative activist Charlie Kirk and the resulting tumult that has engrossed much of the nation.

After a moment of silence, the council continued with the city’s business is broad and the Council approved several measures on Tuesday.

Downtown Improvement Grants designed to improve the facades of property were awarded to three properties. Funded from a program developed by the Tennessee Department of Economic and Community Development, three properties will be receiving money for improvements from a pool of $250,000. They are:
