Absher was arrested in July on child sex crime charges

His organization cut ties with him and subsequently lost public grants.

He is in Henderson County Sheriff's custody on a $650,000 bond.

Michael Absher, founder and former CEO of the homeless children’s nonprofit Only Hope WNC, was indicted Sept. 15 on additional counts of sex offenses involving children.

Absher was indicted by a Henderson County grand jury on seven counts of third-degree sexual exploitation of a minor, three counts of first-degree sexual exploitation of a minor, one count of taking indecent liberties with children and seven counts of statutory sexual offense of a person 15 years or younger, according to nine separate Superior Court documents dated Sept. 15.

Many of these counts were enumerated in Henderson County
