BRANDON, Fla. — Hillsborough County drivers beware — big changes are coming to school speed zone cameras, and you could receive a ticket if you’re not careful.
What You Need To Know • School speed zone cameras in Hillsborough County will now capture tickets of speeders during the entire school day, not just when school zone is activated • Tickets will be issued to drivers going 11 mph over the posted speed limit on a given road • HCSO is installing new signage listing active times
When school speed zone cameras were first installed, they were only activated during school drop-off and pick-up times, so 30 minutes before and after school, when the lights were flashing.
Now, they’ll be activated throughout the entire school day, capturing speeders’ license tags and sending tickets.
