TOWAMENCIN – Eli Landis finally gave the Dock Mennonite boys soccer team some breathing room late in the second half, the senior making a run at the goal off a pass from Joshua Cespedes then sending a shot into the far left corner of the net.

“The keeper was going short post,” Landis said. “So I know that if he’s coming out and going short post, then that far post is open.”

The Pioneers had to put in the work to keep Jenkintown at bay and maintain their 1-0 edge in Thursday afternoon’s Bicentennial Athletic League match. Landis’ tally with 2:39 remaining in regulation doubled the margin to help Dock come away with a 2-0 victory.

“We got the results, we got the W but I feel like we got to be better,” Landis said. “And we got to work harder as a team to move the ball around more.
