NJ Transit’s board of directors awarded a contract worth up to $3.4 million to A Yankee Line, Inc. to assist the agency with bus service it will be providing during the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Bus service will be an integral part of shuttling fans between Secaucus Junction Station and MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, where eight matches including the coveted final will be held between June and July of 2026.
“The contract calls for 100 buses to be on standby in case of a disruption in rail or bus service,” said NJ Transit president and CEO Kris Kolluri.
On the day of the final, there will be 125 buses on standby, Kolluri said. The contract will be paid for from the agency's operating budget, but Kolluri hopes to be reimbursed with federal dollars.
Bus service combined with the existin
