"Jimmy Kimmel Live!" has been suspended indefinitely by ABC following the host's comments on the fatal shooting of conservative activist Charlie Kirk.

Walt Disney-owned ABC said Wednesday it will stop airing the late-night talk show after Kimmel criticized supporters of President Donald Trump for "doing everything they can to score political points from [Kirk's assassination]" during his opening monolgue on Monday.

Federal Communications Commission Chairman Brendan Carr seemingly threatened ABC, Disney and Kimmel over Kimmel's remarks, saying, "We can do this the easy way or the hard way" during an appearance on right-wing commentator Benny Johnson's YouTube show .

Following Carr's comments, Nexstar Media Group Inc. said it would stop airing the show on its local ABC affiliates
