CANFIELD The Mahoning County OVI Task Force will be holding an OVI checkpoint somewhere in Mahoning County the evening of Friday, September 19.
More specific details including the time and location of the checkpoint will be announced shortly before it begins.
The checkpoint will be accompanied by saturation patrols throughout the weekend by various law enforcement agencies in Mahoning County to intercept and deter impaired drivers on the road.
A 1990 U.S. Supreme Court ruling requires that drivers be notified before sobriety checkpoints are conducted to avoid violating constitutional protections against illegal search and seizure. The ruling did not specify what constitutes adequate notification.
