It looks like the Toronto Blue Jays can clinch a playoff spot tonight after all.

The magic number for Toronto to clinch a playoff berth is three. But some users on X pointed out after Thursday night’s loss to the Tampa Bay Rays that because the teams in the mix for a playoff berth are playing each other, there would be guaranteed losses among those clubs.

Major League Baseball, according to Sportsnet’s Dan Shulman, sent out a statement Friday that confirmed the Jays can clinch tonight if Toronto beats the Kansas City Royals and two of Boston, Cleveland and Detroit loses.
