PETERSBURG, Ind. (WANE) A southern Indiana man faces misdemeanor charges of Operating While Intoxicated and Resisting Law Enforcement after police say he ran a stop sign while driving a tractor Thursday evening.

According to a press release from Indiana State Police, the incident took place shortly after 9:30 p.m. in Petersburg. A trooper witnessed the man run the stop sign while pulling a trailer without and taillights.

The trooper saw signs of impairment, but refused to agree to field sobriety tests. The man then got of the tractor and tried to get away. He was quickly apprehended, and allegedly continued to be uncooperative.

Due to his state of intoxication, the man was taken to a hospital before being booked into the Pike County Jail.
