Early voting starts Friday for the Minneapolis mayoral race, and MPR News has compiled a Q & A with candidates DeWayne Davis, Jazz Hampton, Omar Fateh and incumbent Mayor Jacob Frey. Early voting “operates until the day before Election Day, which falls on Tuesday, Nov. 4.”

KSTP reports “law enforcement heads are speaking out in opposition to a new policy from Hennepin County Attorney Mary Moriarty to not prosecute felonies that arise from low-level traffic stops. … Moriarty’s office says the new policy is designed to disincentivize police from pulling drivers over for minor infractions.” Moriarty cited data saying these types of traffic stops “disproportionately affect people of color and result in gun seizures less than 1% of the time.”
