LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – The Lincoln Airport is receiving a funding boost from the U.S. Department of Transportation to fund the reconstruction of one of its runways.
On Friday, the Department of Transportation announced that the Lincoln Airport would receive a $41 million grant through the Airport Improvement Program.
In a news release from Sen. Deb Fischer, officials said the funding will support the final phase and reconstruction of Runway 18/36 at the airport.
The Department of Defense, along with the Nebraska National Guard, utilizes the runway for military missions due to its “significant length.”
