LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) - Finding childcare, balancing work, and bills can be a nightmare for families, especially single parents. The opening of Bezos Academies this October will be a game-changer for many. On Friday, officials hosted a ribbon-cutting to showcase one of the newest schools.

In places like Jefferson County, there is a childcare desert, meaning there are more children than available spots. Reports show that from January to September 2024, over 70,000 adults in Kentucky were unable to work because they needed to take care of at least one child not enrolled in school or childcare.
