Tavian Branch committed to Rutgers on June 11, smack dab in the middle of official visit season for 2026 prospects. The Riverside (Taylor, Pa.) defensive tackle thus shut down his recruitment and didn’t get to take one at Penn State, the school to which he’d taken eight unofficial trips, the most of any school.

Things changed in Branch’s process, as he backed off the Rutgers pledge at the end of August. He rekindled talks with Penn State and quickly knew his next steps.
