A man was arrested for allegedly fatally stabbing his dog multiple times near an apartment complex's dumpster in East El Paso, authorities said.

Police arrested Kevin Garcia, 37, on Wednesday, Sept. 17, on one count of cruelty to non-livestock animals by killing, El Paso Police Department spokesperson Officer Adrian Cisneros said in a news release.

An attorney who will be representing Garcia is not named in court records.

Officers responded to a report of "cruelty to animals in progress" about 8 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 17, at the Sand Pebble Apartments located at 11280 Pebble Hills Blvd. near George Dieter Drive in East El Paso.
