If all goes according to plan, construction on the new Interstate 5 Bridge will begin next year, with tolling starting in spring of 2027, bridge replacement program leaders told Washington and Oregon legislators this week.

“We are looking at starting construction in 2026,” Greg Johnson, administrator for the Interstate Bridge Replacement Program, told officials from both states during a virtual bistate legislative committee meeting Monday.
