WASHINGTON (AP) - The Senate has confirmed Mike Waltz, a former North Central Florida congressman, as President Donald Trump’s US ambassador to the United Nations.

The Senate voted 47 to 43 to confirm Waltz for his role as U.S. permanent representative to the U.N. Security Council.

Most recently, Waltz served in the Trump administration as national security advisor. He left that role in May following criticism about his handling of national security information in a group chat on the messaging app Signal.
