SUMMERVILLE, S.C. (WCBD) – A Summerville man was arrested Thursday after he allegedly shot his wife during an argument, police said.
Summerville officers responded to the Lakes of Summerville around 3:15 p.m. Thursday for reports of a shooting.
When they arrived, they spoke to Billy Portis Jr., who told police he had accidentally shot his wife while cleaning his gun, according to the Summerville Police Department.
The wife was taken to the hospital after being found suffering from a gunshot wound to the face, the agency said.
The victim later told police that she and her husband had an argument during which Portis threatened her before shooting her.
