This payment is part of a $1.6 million legal settlement related to alleged deceptive business practices by Roomster.
The online apartment search platform settled claims that the company defrauded renters by posting unverified apartment listings and fake reviews.
Roomster executives allegedly posted thousands of fake 4- and 5-star reviews on the internet, according to the lawsuit. The executives were also calculated in their timing when posting the fake reviews to make them seem credible.
Roomster customers affected by the lawsuit will get an email within the next 24 hours about receiving a payment.
