NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) - Yesterday, multiple inmates at the AI Cannon Detention Center became sick after they were found smoking contraband, according to the Charleston County Sheriff's Office.

The report states that when the deputies made contact with the jail staff, they were shown the contraband that the inmates were found smoking.

Deputies stated that the contraband appeared to be made out of toilet paper and filled with some substance, the end of the tube was burned, and there was a little orange powder alongside the tube.

Jail staff reported to the deputies that they found the inmates vomiting inside their cells.

After the jail staff discovered the contraband, they took the inmates to the medical office and put them under a four-hour observation.
