For the 10,000 people who visited the Murney Tower Museum in Kingston this past summer, it was a special year.

The tower, which was originally built in 1846 in response to the Oregon crisis , a 19th-century territorial dispute over the political division of the Pacific Northwest of North America, is one of four towers in Kingston.

While it’s been standing at Kingston’s waterfront for 180 years, 2025 marked 100 years of it operating as a museum.

Alison Dringenberg, the manager and curator of the Murney Tower Museum, said the anniversary was celebrated with a number of centennial projects including a children’s storybook called The Time Travelling adventures of Mr. Murney.
