A Manitoulin driver is facing impaired-related charges after being stopped at a RIDE check.

Manitoulin OPP said officers were checking vehicles Sept. 4 on Highway 6 in Espanola. The driver of a vehicle that came through around 11 p.m. appeared to be under the influence and an investigation commenced.

Phillip Spruce, 56, from Mindemoya, was charged with impaired operation and driving with both cannabis and liquor readily available.

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Espanola on Nov. 17.
