JERSEY CITY, N.J. (PIX11) – After only two weeks in school, Jersey City Public Schools students will soon be facing some major changes starting in October.
Cell phones will be banned at Jersey City Schools starting October 1st.
The Jersey City School Board unanimously voted Thursday to ban cell phones in classrooms.
“This policy is flexible enough that many schools have already started implementing it,” said Superintendent of Schools Dr. Norma Fernandez. “It's flexible enough for all schools, where devices just have to be put away.”
The first day of school for Jersey City Public Schools started on Thursday, September 4, 2025.
PIX11 News reached out to the school district, but they were not immediately available to comment.
