ROWAN COUNTY, W.Va. (WSAZ) – A double murder investigation involving a mother and teenage daughter is underway in Rowan County, according to the county Coroner’s Office.
Kayla Blake, 37, and her daughter, Kennedi McWhorter, 13, were both pronounced dead at the scene in Morehead, Kentucky, by Rowan County Coroner John P. Northcutt.
Around 11 a.m. Friday, Morehead Police dispatchers received a 911 call from a person who was checking on one of the victims.
First responders later found the bodies of the two victims at a home.
According to the coroner’s office, a person of interest was arrested in Western Kentucky, and there is no threat to the public.
Kentucky State Police is investigating the incident, along with the Coroner’s Office.
