GREENVILLE, N.C. (WITN) - ECU Family Weekend is bringing thousands of people to Greenville — and while that’s great for the local economy, visitors may be in for a bit of sticker shock.

Allyson Torti from Raleigh managed to snag one of the last rooms for the weekend at the new Hilton Garden Inn in downtown Greenville. She says, “We love it. We’re excited to keep coming back, and we’ll stay at the hotel again if we can get a room.”

But it’s not cheap. She says around $600 a night for a total of $1,400 for two nights, including taxes. Rates for next weekend are $200 a night.

Torti says, “We’re used to that, though. We have other kids, and so every time that we’ve gone to a college family weekend, the rates obviously go really high.”
