WASHINGTON (WV News) — A group of 48 Republican members of Congress, including all four members of West Virginia's delegation, signed on to an amicus brief filed with the Supreme Court of the United States in a pair of cases dealing with state laws banning transgender student athletes' participation in girls and women's sports.

The high court will consider a case out of Idaho — Little v. Hecox — and one from West Virginia — State of West Virginia v. B.P.J. Both cases stem from lawsuits brought by transgender athletes.

Each case is a challenge to a state law prohibiting transgender female students from participating in girls and women's sports — the Fairness in Women’s Sports Act, passed by the Idaho Legislature in 2020 and signed into law by Gov. Brad Little; and the Save Women's Sports
