State Rep. Mike Sexton, a Republican from Rockwell City, has resigned from the Iowa House after accepting a position appointed by President Donald Trump within the U.S. Department of Agriculture.
U.S. Agriculture Secretary Brooke Rollins announced Sexton was tapped to serve as the Iowa state director for USDA Rural Development, which provides financial resources and support for rural communities.
Sexton's resignation is effective Friday, Sept. 19. He represented Iowa House District 7, which encompasses Calhoun, Pocahontas and Sac counties and part of Webster County in northwest Iowa.
