FAIRMONT, W.Va. (WBOY) — Locals who have been asking for updates regarding multiple sinkholes on Fairmont Avenue and Beverly Road in Fairmont finally have some answers.

The City of Fairmont met with the Division of Highways on Friday to discuss projects to fix numerous roads in town. The sinkholes are the result of an existing storm drainage system that is collapsing, which was made worse by the Father's Day Flood.

The start date for work is scheduled for Oct. 1 and will continue until the projects are complete. Fairmont City Manager Travis Blosser spoke with 12 News and emphasized the need for patience from residents.
