GARDNER, Kan. -- A teacher in the Gardner-Edgerton School District is facing scrutiny over a social media post made after the killing of conservative activist Charlie Kirk. The comment has since spread online.

Gardner-Edgerton's USD 231 School Board held a special closed-door meeting for personnel matters on Wednesday night. As of Friday afternoon, the school district hasn't said whether it was related to the post.

Since Kirk's killing, conservative groups, including Moms For Liberty of Johnson County and Libs of TikTok, have been sharing the online comment reportedly made by a Gardner-Edgerton high school teacher.

The post said in part, "she was saving her empathy" for school shooting victims that same day in Colorado, and went on to call Kirk "a terrible person" among other remarks.
