For the past five years, Music at the Intersection Music Festival and Arts Conference has brought some of the biggest stars to the stages that turn the Grand Center Arts District into what can be likened to St. Louis’ outdoor version of ESSENCE Festival.

But what gives MATI the competitive edge over other music festivals – yes, even over ESSENCE – is that St. Louis artists are given main character treatment as opposed to just being a host city.

“We are doing this in celebration of St. Louis, our imprint on the American songbook and the rich cultural legacy we are known for across the world,” said Chris Hansen, Executive Director of the Kranzberg Arts Foundation, presenter and producer of MATI. “We are so proud to be here, and so proud that you are celebrating with us.”
