A farmer has pulled off an elaborate marriage proposal that has taken a blossoming relationship to new heights and has set the bar high for others.

Will Henderson, 25, and his now fiancée Steph Carter, 24, a primary school teacher, live on a farm at Blighty, located in the Riverina region of NSW, after meeting at Ballarat Grammar more than five years ago.

The relationship blossomed when Will took up a farming position after leaving school at Tatyoon - Steph's hometown - and he quickly knew she was the one.

Also blossoming, but in more recent months, was Will's proposal - the words 'will you marry me' written in golden canola.

"I saw the idea for the proposal on a show," he said.

"I sowed the canola with an air seeder and used the GPS to guide me.
