WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) - Bike Walk Wichita, a nonprofit founded in 2010 to expand access to bicycles and safe riding spaces, will take part in a cross-state cycling challenge this weekend to raise money for Kansas’ refugee community.

The group has organized a team for Ride 4 Refugees, a 418-mile trek from the Colorado border to the Missouri border, all in one day.

“Advocacy for us is we show up in city council spaces, county commission, we meet with neighborhood leaders and individuals in the community to find out what’s important to them and how we can make sure that they have safe spaces,” said Holly Terrill, executive director of Bike Walk Wichita.

The goal, Terrill said, is to raise $10,000 to support refugees in and around the state.
