DALLAS — Precinct 2 Commissioner Alisa Simmons skipped the latest Commissioner’s Court meeting to prevent a vote on a property tax decrease.
Since fellow Democrat Roderick Miles, Jr. was also a no-show, the court lacked a quorum and couldn’t pass the new tax rate. State law requires at least four commissioners present to make a rate change.
County Judge Tim O’Hare called a special Commissioner’s Court meeting on Monday, September 22, to try again. Commissioner Simmons told us on Inside Texas Politics that she will not attend that meeting either.
