MADERA COUNTY, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – Through partnerships with local farmers, ranchers, and beekeepers, Yosemite Unified School District is providing students with fresh, healthy food sourced directly from local producers.
"It's really what's better for kids. It's going to help them in their learning. It helps with attendance, and when they leave school, it will help them with making better food choices," said Dyann Eckstein, Yosemite Unified's nutrition services manager.
Through grant money, Eckstein created this initiative when she first started at the district three years ago.
