DALLAS — It is a catch-22 no Texas farmer wants to face - record yields, but low prices.

Farmers across Texas report that this year’s crop is one of the best they’ve ever harvested, particularly in corn and cotton. Soybeans and sorghum are said to be doing well, too.

But low market prices are offsetting everything.

“We’ve got a good harvest, finally. But it’s not worth anything. That’s the problem,” Texas Agriculture Commissioner Sid Miller told us on Inside Texas Politics .

Commissioner Miller joined the program from Rogers, Arkansas, where he was attending the National Association of State Departments of Agriculture annual meeting. Miller says ag commissioners from all 50 states were gathered to discuss everything from prices to opening new markets.
